Why Vacation in Mombasa?
Mombasa is the second largest city in Kenya, a stature that reflects in the convenience you will experience there. This especially regarding amenities such as transportation, entertainment and accommodation. In Mombasa, prestigious ocean front resorts dot the most beautiful sandy beaches in East Africa. At Gemini Expeditions, we have secured some of these resorts to ensure your comfortable and enjoyable stay. They include Mombasa Beach Hotel, Neptune Beach Resort, Serena Beach Resort & Spa, PrideInn Paradise, PrideInn Flamingo, PrideInn Nyali, Voyager Beach Resort, and many more.
Mombasa town gazes out toward the Indian Ocean and therefore, there is plenty of water activities to experience there. The Mombasa Marine National Park for example is a popular spot for windsurfing, scuba diving and snorkelling. If you aren’t a fan of getting inside the water you may book a glass bottomed boat and still observe the variety of aquatic life in the park just as much as the divers.
It isn’t just aquatic life that you will find in Mombasa. There are parks which are home to a variety of terrestrial wildlife. You could visit Haller Park for instance and experience an up-close and personal interaction with giraffes. What started out as a giraffe park is now home to hippos, cape buffalos, zebras, crocodiles, monkeys and waterbucks. Other places in Mombasa that are similar to Haller Park include Nguuni Nature Sanctuary, The Refiners Sanctuary and KSPCA.
Visitors hardly leave Mombasa without exploring the old town. This section of Mombasa is nestled away on the Southeast end. It is this part of town that is richest in history and the architecture is blatant about this. 18th century buildings and carvings characterise the old town. However, particular spots get more attention than others. For example, the UNESCO World Heritage Site – Fort Jesus is arguably the most visited place not only in the old town, but the entire Mombasa town. Also worth checking out is the Hindu Temple Centre.
The Old town may differ from the rest of Mombasa, and the streets may appear puzzling but luckily, tour guides generally know the city like the back of their hands and will help you navigate.
